Jack Butler and George Sauer

Jack Butler, of the Pittsburgh Steelers, passed away May 11, 2013 and George Sauer, of the New York Jets, passed away May 7, 2013.

Jack Butler was born November 12, 1927. Butler was born in Pittsburgh and died in Pittsburgh. He attended the college St. Bonaventure University. Jack Butler was an undrafted free agent for the Pittsburgh Steelers (my favorite team.)  from 1951 - 1959. Butler was a four time pro-bowler who was inducted to the Pro-Football Hall of Fame last year in 2013. He ended his career with 52 interceptions, 827 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Butler passed away at the age of 85.

George Sauer was born November 10, 1943 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He died in Westerville, Ohio at age 69. He went to the College Texas and got drafted to the New York Jets in 1965 and played for them from 1965 - 1970. His greatest performance was in Super III, with the help of Joe Namath, (my favorite player.) against the Baltimore Colts. He made it to 4 straight AFL All-Star games. His dad played in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers. So Sauer ended his career with 309 receptions, 4,968 yards, 28 touchdowns, and one Superbowl Ring. Sauer passed away at age 69 because of heart failure caused by a sickness called Alzheimer's Disease.

We'll remember these players and hope the best for their families. They both had a great career with great stats.

  1. You definitely know your football facts. This was a good blog and I learned a lot from it, as well as from all your other football posts.
