It was a Long draft, again

Howie Long's son, Kyle Long, was drafted round 1 pick 20 by the Chicago Bears. Howie Long was drafted round 2 pick 48 by the Oakland Raiders. Howie Long was an eight time pro-bowler, one time Superbowl champion, and an NFL Hall of Famer. Kyle Long was drafted 28 picks before his dad, Howie Long. Kyle Long was the third fastest Offensive Linemen at the combine in the 40 yard dash with a time of 4.94. In week four of this years pre-season Kyle will be playing his dads old team the Oakland Raiders. Howie Long was 6ft 5in Kyle Long is 6ft 6in. Kyle started 10 of 12 college games in 2012. Howie started in 179 games in the NFL. Will Kyle Long follow in his father's footsteps?  Peyton and Eli Manning followed their father's footsteps (Archie Manning) in fact they may have played better than their father, so maybe Kyle Long will play like his dad also. We'll see this season how Kyle Long does.

Dee Milliner, the next Darrelle Revis?

After trading one of the best Corner Backs (Darrell Revis) of all time to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Jets draft another Corner Back, Dee Milliner.
Dee Milliner College Stats
Tackles   Sacks   Interceptions   Yards   Touchdowns  Pass Deflections   FR FF
                136        1.5             6              107            1                      41                1  2

Darrelle Revis College Stats
Tackles   Sacks   Interceptions   Yards  Touchdowns   Pass Deflections   FR FF
          80               0                    8                 88              2                         19                             0  0

Revis and Milliner both played three years in college so I repaired Revis' college stats to Milliners college
stats. Milliner has better stats than Revis has in every category except for interceptions and touchdowns.
Revis was drafted by the New York Jets in Round 1 Pick 14 and Milliner was drafted round 1 pick 9. Jet's
fans weren't happy when Milliner got drafted and said every time a Wide Receiver catches the ball when
Milliner is covering him, Jet's are going to say "Revis wouldn't have given up that." So will Dee Milliner be
the next Darrelle Revis?

Offensive Lineman Take Charge in the 2013 Draft

There were 9 Offensive Linemen drafted first round in the 2013 draft. Only one Quarterback was drafted in the first round by the Buffalo Bills, E. J. Manuel. This draft is the first time ever in NFL history that 4 Offensive Linemen has been drafted out of the first 7 picks. The first two players drafted was Eric Fisher (OT) and Luke Jockel (OT). The other 7 Offensive Linemen was Lane Johnson, Johnathan Cooper, Chance Warmark, D. J. Fluker, Justin Pugh, Kyle Long, and Travis Fredrick. Only four Offensive Linemen in NFL history was the first round overall draft pick. Those players were Ron Yary, Orlando Pace, and Jake Long. The only other time in NFL history that two Offensive Linmen were taken as the first two draft picks in NFL history was in 1968 and the players were Ron Yary and Bob Johnson. Only 23 players in the draft weren't Offensive Linemen. Quarterbacks are going to be really safe in the 2013 season behind their O-Line. Last year, in 2012, only 4 Offensive Linemen were drafted, this year there was more than double Offensive Linemen drafted. I think Eric Fisher will do a great job protecting Alex Smith (QB) and Jamal Charles (RB). Marquise Jone Drew (MJD) probably won't have another serious injury like he did this year behind Luke Jockel.

Jack Butler and George Sauer

Jack Butler, of the Pittsburgh Steelers, passed away May 11, 2013 and George Sauer, of the New York Jets, passed away May 7, 2013.

Jack Butler was born November 12, 1927. Butler was born in Pittsburgh and died in Pittsburgh. He attended the college St. Bonaventure University. Jack Butler was an undrafted free agent for the Pittsburgh Steelers (my favorite team.)  from 1951 - 1959. Butler was a four time pro-bowler who was inducted to the Pro-Football Hall of Fame last year in 2013. He ended his career with 52 interceptions, 827 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Butler passed away at the age of 85.

George Sauer was born November 10, 1943 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He died in Westerville, Ohio at age 69. He went to the College Texas and got drafted to the New York Jets in 1965 and played for them from 1965 - 1970. His greatest performance was in Super III, with the help of Joe Namath, (my favorite player.) against the Baltimore Colts. He made it to 4 straight AFL All-Star games. His dad played in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers. So Sauer ended his career with 309 receptions, 4,968 yards, 28 touchdowns, and one Superbowl Ring. Sauer passed away at age 69 because of heart failure caused by a sickness called Alzheimer's Disease.

We'll remember these players and hope the best for their families. They both had a great career with great stats.

Doug English

If you were ever playing against Doug English and you were at your own 1 or 2 yard line you better get rid of the ball fast because if you didn't you would give up a safety made by Doug English. Doug English was a tall Defensive Linemen for the Detroit Lions weighing 260 pounds and 6'5. English was born in Dallas Texas and went to the high school Bryan Adams High School. English went to the University of Texas and played for the Texas Longhorns and won three Southwest Conference titles. After four years at the University of Texas, English got drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1975 round 2 pick 38. He made it to 4 pro-bowls in 1979, 1981, 1982, and 1983. In 1979 Doug was the defensive MVP with 90 tackles and only 6 sacks. English is tied with two other players in first place named Ted Hendricks and Jared Allen all with 4. English made it to the College Hall of Fame in 2011. Doug English's real name was Lowell Doug English. English (# 75) played 10 long good years all with the Detroit Lions from 1975 - 1985. He ended his career with 59 sacks, 131 games played, and a record setting number of four safeties.

Ross Browner

Ross Browner was March 22, 1954 in Warren, Ohio. He is a Defensive End for the Cincinnati Bengals wearing number 79. Almost all of Ross Browner's family played in the NFL. His two brothers Joey Browner and Keith Browner. Joey Browner as a safety for the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Keith Browner played as a Defensive End for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was also the father of Max Starks a Tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ross Browner was a better college player than an NFL player. Browner went to Notre Dame and won many great awards. He won the Outland trophy in 1976, the UPI Lineman of the year twice in 1976 and 1977, and the 1977 Maxwell Award. He was the only player to ever receive the UPI Lineman of the year twice. Browner got drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1978 as the number eighth over all draft pick. Browner and the Bengals made it to Superbowl XVI, but lost to the great San Francisco 49ers. Browner still hold a record for most tackles by a Defensive Linemen ever in a Super Bowl. Browner never made it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he was inducted to the college Hall of Fame. After playing 9 seasons in the NFL Browner played 1 year for USFL for the team the Houston Gamblers. After that he came back to the NFL playing his last season with the Green Bay Packers. He ended his 10 season career with 30.5 sacks and one interception for 29 yards.

I'm blogging about players

For the next few week I'll blog about a random player. The way I'll do this is by picking a random football card from my bucket of football cards.

I am a pro football card collector

I'm a great card collector, mainly for football. Since I was 9 years I have been collecting. I didn't  know about autographed cards and jersey card so I just bought card packs from Topps or Upper Deck. When I was 10 years old I had about 1,500+ football cards and I have about every player who ever played in the NFL. Ten was also the age when I started to get some jersey and autograph cards. I think my first jersey card was a Mike Wallace autographed jersey card numbered 23/25 which my dad bought for me at a card store. My dad bought a lot of my first jersey cards. When I was in fifth grade I had to do a book report for school so I did one on Jerome Bettis. After the book report I was a really big fan of Jerome Bettis so my dad took me to the store and bought me a Jerome Bettis autographed card. When I was 11 I became a pro card collector. I one day went to a flea market and I bought a Ben Rothlisberger jersey card and a Emanuel Sanders jersey card. I also trade a little but with my friends and I got a Lendale White jersey card. My dad and I also bought a few packs and I got lucky and got a few autographed cards they were a rookie chrome Mike Goodson autographed card, a Marcus Easly autographed rookie card, and a Doug Martin autographed rookie card. I was sick one day so my dad and I went to a card store called Baseball Card Kingdom and bought two amazing card and they were a Tom Brady jersey card numbered 124/250 and a rookie Adrian Peterson numbered 3 of 6. On Christmas I got a 2008 football set, an old Johnny Unitas card from 1970, a Big Ben jersey card, a Heath Miller autographed numbered 19/50, and best of (doesn't really count as a card I guess) a Big Ben and Sidney Crosby hand signed autographed billboard for the Pittsburgh City of Champs. I bought a lot of cards from the card store Sports Card Junction such as a Colin Kaepernick rookie card, a Jake Long jersey card, a Santana Moss autographed football card numbered 214/ 450, a Jamal Lewis jersey card numbered 91/175, and a Von Miller rookie jersey card. I bought almost all of my good cards off of eBay such as an Alex Smith duel jersey card, a Calvin Johnson jersey card numbered 4/75, a Jamal Lewis autographed card, a Ndamukong Suh jersey card numbered 219/299, a J. J. Watt autographed card, a Donruss Timeless Triples jersey card of Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne, a Jim Brown Jersey card numbered 226/250, a duel jersey card of Earl Campbell and Walter Payton numbered 70/100, a duel Jerry Rice jersey card numbered 78/100, a great autographed card of Drew Brees, and one of my most favorite card ever a Panini Prestige 2011 League Leaders quadrupole jersey card of Tom Brady (white), Drew Brees (gold), Peyton Manning (blue), and Eli Manning (white and blue) numbered 12/50! I have some old cards that my dad gave me such as a Dan Fouts rookie card, Emmit Smith rookie card, O. J. Simpson card, Tony Dorsett rookie card, Earl Campbell rookie card, and a Jim Brown card in great condition. So now I have about 3,000+ football card and I hope I get more thanks for reading. Here are some images of my cards below.

My Superbowl Predictions

I think that the Green Bay Packers will play against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVI. Who will win? I don't know, but it will be a great match up.

The Broncos have the legend Quarterback Peyton Manning. He has great Wide Receivers Eric Decker and pro-bowler Demaryius Thomas, but his main target will be a new Wide Receiver who came from the New England Patriots Wes Welker. The Broncos drafted Running Back Montee Ball from Wisconsin. Denver has a great defense with pro-bowl future Hall of Famer Cornerback Champ Bailey and at the center of the defense Linebacker Von Miller. They may have lost six veteran Elvis Dumervil to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Packers are already an amazing team with a record of 11 - 0. The year before that the won the Superbowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Packers have a great Line Backer Clay Matthews, but also lost great players such as Wide Receiver Greg Jennings, Cornerback Charles Woodson, and Centers' Jeff Saturday and Scott Wells. Ignore the sane "Defense wins Championships" because this defense doesn't. It may help a little bit, but it won't win it. The thing that whens Championships is their offense. Green Bay's Offense was great last year, but now it is amazing they have Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Wide Receivers' James Jones and Jordy Nelson. Last year Green Bay did not have a good running game, but now the drafted an amazing Running Back from Alabama Eddie Lacy. So now that  they have the passing and running game nothing could stop them now!

So that is my Superbowl match up prediction and please tell me in the commets section who you think is going to win. Denver or Green Bay?
