Mike Tomlin and Cortez Allen Gang Tackle

The Pittsburgh Steelers were losing 13-7 in the 3rd quarter with 6:16 remaining. Shaun Suisham kicked the ball off to the great Jacoby Jones. Jones ran pass everybody with the help of great blocks. He had one man to beat which was Shaun Suisham. He ran pass Shaun Suisham, but Cortez Allen was on the other side of the field catching up to Jones and Mike Tomlin was standing on the sideline peeking backwards. As soon as Jacoby Jones was about a foot behind Tomlin, Coach Tomlin moved back onto the sidelines. Jacoby Jones slowed down enough (thanks to Mike Tomlin) and Cortez Allen tackled him at the 27 yard line. You can see Mike Tomlin watch the Jumbotron and then peek backwards. I'm not sure if Tomlin did this on purpose or not, but Joe Flacco thought he was cheating. "Mike Tomlin stopped us one time, I think." Flacco said. Flacco also was thinking the same thing at the end of the 2013 Super Bowl when Ginn was receiving a kick. Flacco said, " if he for some reason breaks down the field I'm going to tackle, I don't what the rules on that are, but I'm pretty sure they will call it a touchdown anyways." Jacoby Jone after the game was talking about that play and said that he was running through a hole and saw Mike Tomlin on the field. "Does he know he's on the field" Jones said during the kick return.

You can easily see that when Mike Tomlin was getting off the field at the last second he put his foot on the field and then got off the field. The possibilities for the punishment are being fined of taking away a draft pick. Jacoby Jones said that it did slow him down, but he shouldn't have been caught. After the play Mike Tomlin was smiling. Do you think he did this on purpose or not and what should his punishment be.

  1. He isn't stupid...he did it on purpose and laughed about it when he was interviewed.
