Dave Robinson

Dave Robinson was born May 3, 1941 in Mount Holly Township, New Jersey. He went to Moorestown High School and graduated in 1959. He was a great athlete at the high school Football and especially Basketball. He played for three unbeaten New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) championship teams. In 1957 he had a 9 - 0 football record. In both years of 1958 and 1959 he had an undefeated record of 22 - 0 for basketball.

Robinson went to the college Penn State playing Offensive and Defensive End from 1960-1962. He was the Gator Bowl MVP and made it to the Gator Bowl Hall of Fame. In 1997 he made it to the College Football Hall of Fame. He also earned a degree in Civil Engineering(which pays off later in his life.).

Dave Robinson got drafted more times than any other football player I know. He got drafted three times. In the NFL he got drafted round 1 pick 14 by the Green Bay Packers, in the AFL he got drafted by the San Diego Chargers in round three, and in the CFL by the Montreal Aloutters. The San Diego Chargers had a financial package, for Robinson, of $38,000, but ran out of money and traded his AFL rights to the Buffalo Bills. Robinson did not think he'd play for the Green Bay Packers. His fiance Elaine had been to Buffalo before and knew it was cold, but she never been to Green Bay and was willing to give it a try. Green Bay changed Robinson from a Defensive End to a Linebacker. The Packers started the three Linebackers Lee Roy Caffey, Ray Nitschke, and Dan Robinson. Robinson was a threat against the run and especially the pass. Detroit Lions Hall of Fame Defensive Back Jack Christiansen said “Trying to pass over Robinson, with his arms and reaction, is like trying to pass over the Empire State Building.” Robinson went to three pro-bowls 1967 pro-bowl MVP, won three times NFL Champion, and a two time Superbowl Champion. In 1973 Robinson got traded to the Washington Redskins and retired in 1974.

Dave Robinson was inducted to the
Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013
