High School Quarterback Zack Darlington Injured
Two days ago on August 24, 2013 I was watching a high school football game on ESPN. The game was Apopka (Fla.) vs. Byrnes (S.C.). It was the fourth quarter with 6:10 remaining on the clock. Darlington was escaping the pocket, he escaped the first tackle and when he got to the line of scrimmage he put down his shoulders and turned into a runner at that point. Number 44 comes up and hammers Darlington and knocks him out of bounds. The hit was perfectly legal and there weren't penalty flags. Darlington wasn't getting up. They had to put him on a stretcher and a brace around his neck. Darlington was unconscious for a certain period of time. Near the end of the game a helicopter few over the field and landed on the practice field and airlifted him to the hospital. The doctors said that Darlington should be in the hospital for 1-2 days.
